Just got word that Deployment Strategy won "Best Special Effects" at the Indie Fest USA festival in Anahiem, California this past weekend! This follows an earlier win (that i forgot to post) at The ShockerFest for "Best Science Fiction".
Both of these were a surprise to me whose wins i found out about much after the fact because I didn't know these festivals had competitions- i thought them to be just showcases. I learned about the ShockerFest win when the award plaque arrived in the mail! A fellow filmmaker friend, Chris Stack was actually the one to let me know about the Indie Fest USA win via email (Thanks Chris!). Funny thing about Indie Fest USA- they have separate categories for Best Special Effects and Best Visual Effects. Not sure what the difference is- gotta look into that one- but doesn't matter to me!
So that marks the end of the our accepted festival run for now. There are still outstanding applications, but none that have sent out official selections yet... but hopefully there'll be more soon!

special vs visual effects
special effects = any practical effects done on set (explosions, prosthetics, smoke, squibs, etc.)
visual effects = post-production computer trickery :)
